Twikini 1.2 released

Many of you have been using Twikini as their primary Twitter client on their Windows Phones. A few months ago twikini version updates rapidly followed eachother untill version 1.1 was released. After a break of a few months Trinket Software comes with a new version of Twikini: Version 1.2

Twikini has become one of the best Twitter applications for Windows Phones users. I like Twikini very much because it is a stable, fast and has some great features:

  • Simple, uncluttered, and customizable user interface. Choose from a variety of themes for the best reading experience.
  • Post tweets using a full screen editor. Optionally, set your location (either manually, using GPS coordinates, or geocoding) along with your status updates.
  • Send and receive Direct Messages.
  • Twitpic integration to post photos with your status updates. Select existing photos or click new ones from your device’s camera.
  • Read status updates just like browsing a web page. Quickly reply, retweet, favorite, or email other people’s tweets.
  • Windows Media Player integration. Automatically tweet the song and artist you’re listening to.
  • URL shortening services including Bit.ly, TinyURL and Digg.
  • Single download that is compatible with all Windows® Mobile devices – both touch and non-touch.

Unlike other Twitter clients for Windows Mobile, Twikini is completely written in C++ code to assure maximum performance and the shortest loading times possible.

Some of the key features which are build in the new Version are:

  • New: When you click on a Twitpic link, the large photo is conveniently shown inside Twikini. You no longer have to launch a web browser to view the picture.
  • New: Option to launch all URLs in Skweezer (this optimizes websites for small screens). The option is OFF by default. Enable it under Tools > Options > Data/Download.
  • New: Specify which view you want the app to launch in every time (@Replies, DMs, Favorites, Public timeline etc). That way you can quickly get to the Twitter feature you care about most. Find this setting under Tools > Options > Data/Download.
  • New: Set auto refresh to only check DMs and @Replies. This reduces bandwidth usage and battery life, and avoids disturbing you with tweets you may not care about. Find this setting under Tools > Options > Auto Refresh.
  • Improved: Rewrote some GPS code so it should now work on all devices (or most!). Lots of people had trouble with GPS in previous versions. Please let us know if it works OK now.
  • Bug fix: some passwords were not being saved correctly.

These new features look very promissing for the future. Let’s hope that the guys over at trinket software will keep improving this already great piece of software.
