In my humble opinion – the second Omnia misses the charm that the first version had.
True, the specs are much better, and especially the screen, but the D-Pad is horrible, the plastic cover feels cheap, much of the customized applications are not as usable as in the first version, and the keyboard is not even close to the iPhone or Android virtual keyboards.
I used to be a big fan of the first Samsung Omnia very much, but I don’t see myself upgrade to the new version.

I just tried the Navigation. And it works. It is a self standing application with it own UI. Could be using google data, but can’t get the google maps view as you are used to to navigate. Google maps is a Windows Phone application as well.

However I like the Bing (old Live maps) better. They even came out with a new update today. Not fa ull blown navigation but it works great and is also clud based and location based communication app

Great review! If you can, could you answer two questions? 1. How is the phone quality? 2. How easy is it use bluetooth to voice dial. I returned my Droids (2) because they were poor phones (loose signal in locations my others phones have no problem, and always cause others to ask me “what’s wrong – you sound terrible) and it was insanely worthless as in tap-the-screen while, say your contact and thn LOOK AT THE SCREEN to see it is correct THEN TAP THE SCREEN on OK – all while driving!!

Would you be able to see if Google Maps works on the Omnia 2? The profile page on VZW says it is compatible with VZ Navigator and that it has HTML web browsing capability, leading me to believe it will not work with Google Maps. Thanks!

Verizon representative said that the release dates for phones are confidential so they would not be told until the phones are actually released. Now, is it true that Samsung Omnia 2 is going to be released on Dec. 2 (tomorrow)?
