Yesterday I received great news from my friend Vincent Nguyen, Co-Founder of the R3 Media Network, that their latest project eGether has reached the public beta milestone!
You might ask yourself “What kind of website is this eGether-website?“
Dan Cohen, Editor on GearDiary, answers this question with a well belanced definition in the article: “Introducing eGether, a New Social Portal That Takes Technology News Seriously“:
“eGether is a collaborative service combining the best functionality from social networks -Twitter, Facebook, YouTube, Flickr and LinkedIn- in a portal for consumers, press, PR and analysts.”

I hope that the “eGether public beta launch demo video” provides you with an overview of the options, concepts and a general idea about the look and feel of the eGether website. If you are using one or more of the social networks of the definition above, it won’t be any problem to easily find your way across eGether.
“eGether is developed to bring the best of Twitter, Facebook, YouTube, Flickr and LinkedIn functionality and features into one easy-to-manage social networking service structured around Activities and Connections. Activities originate from user status updates and pitches, combined with user-defined contact information, online galleries that can be tagged with people and products. Connections include private and public circles — groups of other eGether users with whom they collaborate, or topics about which they are interested.”
I really like the central idea that everything is structured around acitivities and connections. Personally I think that in everyday business practice a lot of value and innovation is a result of cleverly combining activities which are a result of excellent and valuable human relations.
Overall thoughts
eGether facilitates a place where all the different stakeholders in the mobile space can virtually meet, connect and discuss, with status updates and pitches as the main drivers of this community.
“eGether also allows consumers to directly obtain information and connect with PR teams or journalists. PR firms can pitch their clients’ products and services from a single sharable information point. Visitors can engage with everyone from consumers, media, analysts and others. eGether empowers users to connect and share what’s on their mind.”
I would like to recommend a great article of Mike Cane, Editor in Chief on eBookTest: “eGether: What Google Wave Should Have Been” in which he describes eGether as the one place where you can catch-up on the latest developments in mobile technology.
Furthermore I would like to highlight the fact that eGether has a well balanced advisory board, which is communicated in the press release as well.
“eGether is supported by an advisory board including Tim Bajarin, president of Creative Strategies, Inc. (www.creativestrategies.com); Michael Gartenberg, vice president of strategy and analysis at Interpret, LLC (www.gartenblog.net); Seth Combs, interactive brand strategist (www.sethcombs.com); and Judie Lipsett, tech blogger and founder of GearDiary (www.geardiary.com).”
I would love to hear your thoughts as a dear reader on this project, and don’t hesitate to have a look at the eGether website:
“Signing up is free and straightforward, and eGether is open to anyone whether you’re a consumer, work in PR or represent a company, are a member of the press or an analyst”
