Novatel Wireless MiFi 2352 review – A mobile hotspot in your pocket !

Final thoughts and overall conclusion

You can read on the Novatel Wireless website the following description of the Novatel Wireless MiFi 2352:

“MiFi delivers the ultimate in personal freedom. With the simple push of a button, wirelessly access the Internet from virtually anywhere with any WiFi-enabled device. MiFi supports multiple users, you can share your high-speed connection with friends, family members and co-workers. The world’s first Intelligent Mobile Hotspot, MiFi is the fastest and easiest way to get online on the go—and it even fits in the palm of your hand. My Internet, my applications, my content, my way.”

When you have a look at the 4 different practical scenarios from 4 different people there is certainly a great deal of truth in this description. I already mentioned that the hardware design is clean lightweight and very compact, with a nice business finish due to the chrome parts. Despite the small size, that results in a default spot of the Novatel Wireless MiFi 2352 in your bag, it is a very functional and powerful device with quite some processing power.

However there is also room for some feedback and improvement. Despite a relative powerful battery of 1530 mAh you can imagine that using the Novatel Wireless MiFi 2352 with multiple connected devices over 3G networks, will consume a lot of power. It shouldn’t be a big surprise that battery-life could be one of the practical problems, however an external battery like for example the Proporta Turbo Charger can help you to stay juiced while on the go !

The Novatel Wireless MiFi 2352 is available via Expansys for the price-point of E249,-! Given the compact size, the ability to connect up to 5 Wi-Fi enabled devices and the ability to take advantage of the upto 16 GB microSD card as additional storage make it a reasonable investment (certainly if you compare it with other alternative options). It is the most complete and versatile cellular data solution I have reviewed so far, and I honestly think that the usage possibilities are endless !

Great review, I use the MiFi myself for while now and indeed, the usage possibilities are endless! I only experience a one time failure each time that I want to connect with an iPad. The second time I try however everything is ok again.

      Hi René,

      Thank you for the comment.
Actually I’m a little surprised about the “connection-issue” with the iPad !? Any idea where this could come from …

iPad firmware seems to have a bug. Our clients with iPad sometimes have issues connecting to MiFi configure in WPA2 mode. Merely switching to WPA+WPA2 mixed mode solves the problem. So it does look like an iPad OS bug, since laptops have no problems connecting to the same MiFi at the same time.

Novatel Wireless MiFi 2352 (European version) & MiFi 2372 (American version, for AT&T, Bell, Rogers, TELUS, etc) from the official distributor.

No contract, no SIM lock, can be used with any 3G/HSPA network/operator around the world. Feel the real freedom with this revolutionary device.

Does this work with an ipod touch?

Also do you have to sign up with a carrier for a monthly fee?

      Hi Geo,

I would certainly advice to go for a cellular data subscription, other wise you simply pay per MB which could become very costly. You share your cellular data connection with several devices … so it’s not hard to do the math if you -for example- will be browsing the internet for an hour. Over here in Europe there are pretty cheap flat-free data subscriptions (data-only or combined with voice and sms).
