Brando Screen Protector Plus Anti-Glare for HTC HD2

I applied the first Brando Screen Protector Plus when I bought the HP Compaq iPAQ 3970 PocketPC somewhere in 2002. The main reasons then were: (1) an anti glare screenprotector was very helpful for car navigation (which boosted pocketpc sales at that time) and (2) the resistive screens were still a little fragile.

In this article I would like to have a detailed look at, and explain my personal need for tha applying a Brando Screen Protector Plus on the HTC HD2, the most powerful Windows Phone on the market.

Why do you apply a Brando Screen Protector Plus on the HTC HD2 ?

On the Brando Workshop website you can read the following description:

“Brando Workshop Anti-Glare Screen Protectors is made of high quality material which elminiates reflected light and protects your screen from scratches and smudge.”

You might remember the YouTube video from a few months ago which shows an interesting scratch test, with the result that the HTC HD2 is very strong and scratch resistant so the second  HP Compaq iPAQ 3970 reason is not applicable.

One of my personal disadvantages of capacitive screens in general is the smudge that remains on the screen. One solution is very frequently cleaning the screen with a piece of cloth or you apply an Anti-Glare Brando Screen Protector Plus on your HTC HD2, iPhone, Google Nexus One or whatever touch-device you have.

Furthermore I reviewed the DAGi capacitive stylus a few weeks ago, and I was curious to find out if a screenprotector has any influence on the use of such a stylus and the touch control in general.

Detailed close-ups of the Brando Screen Protector Plus on the HTC HD2

In this section I would like to provide a few detailed product shots of the Brando Screen Protector Plus, simplyto show how well thought-out and accurate the design is.

In the first close-up picture above you can clearly see that there is a notch for the front facing speaker just above the screen of the HTC HD2. The notch exceeds the length of the speaker to the left side and leaves a free space for the two embedded sensors just below the glass surface: (1) proximity sensor, and (2) backlight sensor.

In the second close-up picture you can see that the Brando Workshop engineers decided to have a sleek and clean looking notch in the Brando Screen Protector Plus to perfectly fit around the keys. A small remark: the fine surface piece just below the keys isn’t covered by the Brando Screen Protector.

Overall conclusion

In the first section I already explained a great partof my reasoning to apply an Anti-Glare Brando Screen Protector Plus on my HTC HD2, but I will provide a short summary:

  • Anti-Glare surface of Brando Screen Protector Plus minimizes the smudge that remains on the screen surface;
  • The Anti-Glare Brando Screen Protector Plus provides me a better viewing experience outside, when the sun shines and under certain angles;
  • A Brando Screen Protector Plus is an additional protection layer for the screen, despit the fact that the screen seems very scratch resistant;
  • A little subjective is my opinion that the Anti-Glare surface of the Brando Screen Protector Plus provides me a better “grip” on the screen of the HTC HD2;
  • The Brando Screen Protector Plus doesn’t have any negative effect on the use of the capacitive screen, with and without the use of the DAGi Capacitive Stylus.

While the ZAGG Invisible Shield for the HD2 is another excellent screenprotector, I do think that the Anti-Glare Brando Screen Protector Plus is the best screen protector available on the market. Normally the Anti-Glare Brando Screen Protector Plus is ordered, before I order a smartphone. :)

Finally I hope that Brando Workshop will also come up with an Anti-Glare Brando Screen Protector Plus for the Zune HD. Don’t wait any longer and check out the Brando Workshop website and order the Anti-Glare or Ultra Clear Brando Screen Protector Plus, for the reasonable pricepoint of $9,00 !!
