Skooba Netbook Neo-sleeve Review

Last week we received a Neo-sleeve from Skooba which I will put up for a short review. This Neo-sleeve is a neoprene case for netbooks which will fit most netbooks up to 10.1″ of size. So it should be perfect for my HP Mini 1000, which happens to be 10″ also.

The Neo-sleeve is made of neoprene (which is also used in diving wetsuits) and is highly water-resistant according to Skooba’s website. I did run a few tests by keeping it under water and remarkably the inside of the case stays dry. This does not mean that you take your netbook with you on a diving trip, but it should survive rain or other damp conditions without any problems.

At the front you will also find a small accessory compartment which will hold your power adapter and power cable, as well as your USB memorystick which has it’s own small pocket in this compartment. I did place my power adapter and power cable and even the bulky euro-plug does fit perfectly in this front compartment due to the stretching abilities.

On the back there are two small rings where you can attach the removable shoulder straps.

It is even checkpoint-friendly. The sleeve may be put through airport screening without removing the computer, as long as the netbook is alone in the sleeve as per TSA requirements. So you probably need to take your power adapter and cable out, but your netbook is fully protected in those plastic bins where you need to put your precious gear in.

You can get your favorite colored Neo-sleeve at the Skooba website for just $19,95. It is available in 4 colors:

  • Charcoal /Abyss Black
  • Charcoal /Blizzard White
  • Charcoal / Deep Ocean Blue
  • Charcoal / Inferno Red
