Sync Your Google Mail- Gmail Contacts to the KIN ONE & KIN TWO

Many people have either a Gmail account or a Google Mail account for their own domain. However, the quick Gmail set-up on the KIN ONE and the KIN TWO only brings in your emails from your Gmail or Google mail account and not your contacts.  This article will show you that it is possible to sync your Gmail- Google mail contacts onto your KIN and link them to your existing contact information from your Facebook,Windows Live and other social media accounts on the KIN.

The contact information on the KIN ONE and KIN TWO currently only comes from your Facebook account, your Windows Live account, manual input or if you have an Exchange account. The last Exchange option is what we are going to use to set up your KIN to sync your Gmail – Google contacts and e-mail. We have written about this before in an earlier article.

Remove existing Gmail- Google mail account.

First of all we have to be sure that you start removing your earlier quick Gmail account that you have set up on your KIN. Follow these steps to remove this account. If you don’t have an account set up yet on your KIN you can skip this section and go to the following section how to set up your account using the Exchange settings.

  1. Slide from the home screen on your KIN to right to have your most left home screen appear
  2. Tap on “Email
  3. On the right top of the screen tap on “more
  4. Tap on “Settings
  5. Tap on “Your Gmail” account that you want to set up later to sync you Contacts and Email.
  6. Now you will see your Name of the account and your Login credentials. Tap on the right top of the screen “Delete“. and select “Delete” again when the “Delete account?”  pop up appears.
  7. Now we are finished deleting of your Gmail – Google Mail account and ready to set this up as your exchange account which gives you back your E-mails and your Contacts.

Adding your Gmail – Google mail account using the Exchange settings.

The following steps will guide you in setting up your Gmail – Google mail account as an exchange account on your KIN.

(Ps. If you have a account for your own domain you first need to activate the active sync functionality in your Google Domain Dashboard.  “Manage this Domain -> Mobile-> Check box “Enable Google Sync“->Save settings)

  1. Slide from the home screen on your KIN to right to have your most left home screen appear
  2. Tap on “Email
  3. On the right top of the screen tap on “more
  4. Tap on “Settings

  11. And in the Domain field you have to put in “google
  12. Now the “Next” button on the top right of your screen will be active. Tap “Next
  13. Since this is Exchange set up you will be asked to create a Pin for your account. This pin is for unlocking the lock screen of your phone.
  14. Now you should be all set. your data connection will sync all your contacts and emails for this account.

The KIN only allows one Exchange account set up on your device. Make sure you set this up for your main account.

Linking contact information on your KIN.

Now that you have different sources of contact information on your KIN you can link them as follows.

  1. Slide the screen either to the right or the left on your KIN and select “Contacts” or “All Contacts
  2. Find a contact by either typing his/her name or scroll down with your finger on the screen until you find the contact that you know will have a information from different sources on your phone like Facebook, My Space, Twitter, Exchange or manual input.
  3. Tap the “contacts name
  4. Tap “More” on the right top of your KIN.
  5. Tap “Link Contact
  6. The KIN will automatically find similar contact names and populates them on the bottom of the screen.
  7. Tap the box with your theme text “Link” that is listed next to the populated list.
  8. That information will be moved to the top part of your screen and will from now on appear together in this person contact information. You will see you can “Unlink” this information the same way.

Thanks for the article. Oddly enough, The Microsoft Exchange option is not available in the new Kin Twom. Do you know how to sync Google contacts with this option removed?
