Google Nexus One extensively reviewed by Just Another Mobile Monday

Just Another Mobile Monday has published a very extensive review of the Google Nexus One, in which Chris Spera, JAMM Editor, even goes beyond the Google Nexus One itself.

Johan van Mierlo, recorded a 9 minute unboxing video, but unfortunately the timeframe didn’t allow him to provide a full review of the Google Nexus One. So let’s have a look on the Google Nexus One review of Just Another Mobile Monday, but first some background on the current sales situation. :)

Google Nexus One still not available in Netherlands !

The Google Nexus One is still not available in the Netherlands, despite it was announced that the logistic- and distribution channels of Vodafone would be used to provide the Google Nexus One in Europe.

UPDATE

The Google Nexus One is available via Vodafone as I saw the availability today in the online shop of Vodafone Netherlands.

Honestly I don’t know if this will even happen anymore, since the HTC Desire -with similar specifications- is widely available here. Furthermore you can read on the official Google Blog that the webstore, with the underlying direct sales model, has not been a success:

“It’s remained a niche channel for early adopters, but it’s clear that many customers like a hands-on experience before buying a phone, and they also want a wide range of service plans to chose from.”

For me personally this change in sales strategy, was perhaps the most interesting fact of the Google Nexus One launch. However the carriers do still have significant power in the general industry value chain.

Just Another Mobile Monday’s take on the Google Nexus One

Chris Spera, JAMM Editor, provides first a very throrough and in-depth look at the software of the Google Nexus One.

He covers not only the basic Android core functionality, but also zooms in on additional software like Google Voice, Facebook, Google Maps Navigation and more. Second you can find an overview of the hardware parts of the Google Nexus One and a comparison with several other smartphones.

In this introduction I already stated that the review “even goes beyond the Google Nexus One itself“. Chris Spera, puts the Google Nexus One Desktop Dock and the Google Nexus One Car Dock also to the test, providing a very complete overview with these two native accessoiries for the Google Nexus One. I really like this approach.

However I won’t completely spoil the fun, so please head over the Just Another Mobile Monday to read throught the review and find out what the overall conclusion about the Google Nexus One is.
