1. This Case is easier to put on compared to the OtterBox Commuter case. After applying the screen protector you slide the iPad in the bottom part of the inner hard shell .

2. Slide the upper part of the hard shell over the top of the iPad till it snaps together.

3.  The inner hard shell is now complete

4. The outer silicone shell can now be placed over the hard inner shell. It takes some good effort to make it fit nicely. Use you fingers around the seams and the crevices of the inner hard shell to have the silicone out shell snap in nicely

5. Slide on the cover to close up the charging and original dock area of the iPad.

6. The Hard plastic screen cover snaps of the front of the screen for extra protection. There are 4 connection points form the hard plastic inner shell that the silicone outer shell left available for perfect alignment.

7. The inside of the hard plastic screen cover has a pop-out stand for your iPad.

8. This stand is unfortunately only available in one position. However you can rotate your iPad in a Portrait position as well.

Personally I don’t like the screen protectors on my devices anymore. The middle action button, power button and volume buttons are covered by the silicone outer shell and will work nicely. The Silent switch and the 3.5 mm jack for your head phones are perfectly covered by a silicon flap which allows you to open them for easy access of these functionalities.

Conclusion

As with all the OtterBox products. This Defender case gives you very good protection. Removing the back  part to be able to charge or dock your device takes some effort. You will have a top quality protection case on your Apple iPad.
