It has been a while that I used Live Writer but Microsoft now has published the Open Live Writer app to the Windows Store. If you don’t see yet in the store you can still download it here. This post is written as a sort of a test with Open Live Writer. Open Live Writer is like Word for your blog. Open Live Writer is a powerful, lightweight blog editor that allows you to create blog posts, add photos and videos then publish to your website. You can also compose blogs posts offline and then publish on your return. Open Live Writer works with many popular blog service providers such Read more

welcome mail

Since the launch of Windows 10 preview and now the official Windows 10, I and many other have a problem with the build in mail client Outlook showing the wrong email account in the account settings. I have tried many things to fix this. However these fixes were only temporary because the email listed went always back to one of aliases I hardly use. The good thing however, after doing some testing, that this is only a visual problem. Your real main Microsoft account you logged in with your computer is the one it is really sending from and receiving to. But now we have registry edit fix to solve Read more

With the latest update to the RTM version of Windows 10 Preview a lot of users with the Enterprise version of the preview are not able to activate their version. The Enterprise version of Windows 10 build 10240 needs to have official registration codes from the company. However many users have the Enterprise version running from their MSDN subscription and don’t have it. There has been a thread going on the Microsoft Answers forum and a user found a way to activate this Enterprise version using the Command Prompt(admin) application. The steps below worked for me perfectly. Steps how to activate Windows 10 Enterprise 10240 Right click on the windows icon Read more

text to calendar main

This tip I have to credit my daughter. She discovered that Windows Phone 8.1 is smart enough to convert potential dates with actions in the text, sms and messaging app. The great thing about this is that you can easily add calendar appointments based on some communication you have going with your family and friends. You can see below how Windows Phone 8.1 automatically underlines a potential appointment in your messaging field and lets you tap on it and Cortana will add this easily to your calendar. The sample below show you that it will automatically recognizes “Friday” as the next Friday in the calendar and also recognizes the “at school” Read more

local scout main windows phone 8 1

The Window Phone 8.1 update with Cortana is amazing, but Local Scout is missing as an option like we had in Windows Phone 8. Unless you turn Cortana off and get the old Bing search back. However I like them both and would like them both on my Windows Phone 8.1. Local scout is a very great tool you want to use while you can’t use Cortana due to a public setting which is not conducive to talk to your phone. Local Scout also lets filter quickly by multiple different type of restaurants which Cortana can’t do. Well, with the help of Cortana you can get Local Scout back on Read more

Well…It’s there now and it highlights “Six reasons to choose Windows Phone” The official Windows Phone 8.1 feature page is now live and the following 6 reasons to choose Windows Phone listed are: Cortana – The most personal assistant (video on site) Personalization – The world’s most personal smartphone Read more

windowsphone 8.1

The SDK for Windows Phone 8.1 was released to some key developers under NDA. However it seems that those NDA’s have been broken very quickly by many since that a few key Windows Phone websites like WPCentral,  WMPoweruser and others are showing off screenshots of new features built-in the new Windows Phone 8.1 operating system.  I have looked at these sites and compiled for you a list and possible screenshots of these new features. I have to warn you all that nothing is confirmed but that the probability is great. NOTE: Just like with the previous versions of Windows Phone the OEM’s and Carriers probably have some say in implementing some Read more

SurfaceProUpdate

Updates for the Microsoft Surface Pro and Pro 2 are great and mostly good for your device. However sometimes it doesn’t always goes to well. It happened to me today with my Surface Pro 2. I knew a firmware update was available and I forced an update check using the control panel on my Surface Pro 2. The download was amazingly fast and the Surface Pro 2 started automatically a restart to finish the update. When the Surface Pro rebooted the opening screen was the splash start screen with the Surface Logo but with a line underneath telling me not to turn off the Surface Pro since it need to Read more
