If you haven’t read it yet, your read it now! Nokia was bought by Microsoft. Of course Apple has it own phone hardware division. Google bought Motorola for it’s phone hardware division (still using Asus for tablet though) and Microsoft needed to find the right partner to make Windows Phone successful and become a staple. Well. This is how I see it played out…… Microsoft bought Nokia’s phone business for $7.2 billion to secure to rising future of the Windows Phone business plan. Hey! Google did it with Motorola. But I think ther purchase was too early since Motorola had limited world market penetration. As of last month, Motorola phones Read more

One of the biggest issues on Windows Phone 8 has been that many users haven’t been able to play certain wav audio files which are their home or office voice mails attached to an email. The issue is that that there are different type of wav files and somehow the codecs of older wav files didn’t make it in the chip sets on Windows Phone 8. I will give you two great solutions. One of them requires help from others and can be difficult, but the other solution is easy and you can set it up in a few minutes. Self Fix for Unsupported Wav Files There are some solutions, one of them Read more

One of the largest complaints with documents shared on SkyDrive was that others couldn’t edit collaborated documents if they didn’t have a Microsoft account. Well SkyDrive listened and this is now possible. According to the Inside SkyDrive official Blog a billion Office documents on SkyDrive can be collaborated with ease. With a special edit link all recipients (even with a non-Microsoft ) can edit the document. You can even edit this at the same time. Of course you can have more control and just invite specific people via their email and checking the “require user sign-in”. These changes definitely will make it easier to share and collaborate specific documents. SkyDrive is increasingly adding functionality and is Read more

Sonos speakers

I have heard and read many times about the Sonos speaker system. But I wasn’t really familiar with it. After contacting the pr agency for Sonos and seeing them at a Pepcom event in NY City I was given the opportunity to test the Sonos Bridge and the Play:3. And after some small start up issues I am now pretty “Wowed” by Sonos. Why? Let me tell you. If you don’t Sonos yet you might want to know a little bit more about their system. The system is a Wireless HiFi system using your internet and network sources of music and radio. For example the music on your hardrives, and in the cloud like  Amazon Cloud. Read more

With the Nokia Lumia 920 hitting the store shelves some great feedback is hitting all sort of media channels. A good friend of mine and fellow Microsoft MVP Windows Phone Consumer Pino Paparone has made a great comparison video of a Nokia Lumia 920 and the HTC Titan II taking a video at the same time  through a window on a moving train. The video below clearly shows that the 8.7 megapixel camera of the Nokia Lumia 920 with Windows Phone 8 outperforms the 16 megapixel HTC Titan II with Windows Phone 7.5.  The shot is much more steady and the picture is so much clearer. I am anxcitiously waiting on our Read more

Windows Phone 8 is the most thoroughly tested mobile platform Microsoft has ever released. The result is a highly responsive, fast and very stable and robust operating system for smartphones. I haven’t applied a single hard reset in the past months, despite I’m heavily using the Windows Phone 7 devices like the HTC Titan and Titan II to digg into the various features of Windows Phone 7 and put those to the test. If you run into the rare situation that you need to perform a hard reset to your Windows Phone 8 device, you can apply the following step-by-step guide: Start (menu) Button; Choose Settings from the program list; Make sure the system settings are selected in the Read more

Navigon navigation has been an outstanding application for Windows Phone and Windows Mobile for years. For all non Nokia users this is the best navigation app to have.
