If you are an active person and want to listen to your music on your phone while being active, a good Bluetooth headphone set is a must. I had the pleasure to test the JayBird BlueBuds X headset and I have to say these JayBird BlueBuds X meet the requirement for an active person.

The JayBird BlueBuds was designed to have the best flexible opportunity to wear them in different ways. The two ear pieces are combined with a ribbon in which three button are integrated for volume, answering calls, forwarding etc. However the functions of the buttons on the ribbon between the two ear pieces were not all supported on the Windows Phone 8 Nokia Lumia 920 device.

One of the ear pieces (right or left depending how you wear them) has a small cap which you remove to charge up the head set. The charging cable is short and uses a Usb to Micro USB connection. The JayBird included cable is again a flat ribbon design but any USB to Micro Usb cable will work with the BlueBuds X. When fully charged the battery should last 8 hours.

The Bluetooth connectivity was very easy to set up and the sound quality was superb coming from my Windows Phone. Which included the phone calls I had and music I played.

The included sport ear cushions come in three different sizes to have the best locking fit possible. Also the tips come in three different sizes.

As mentioned before the earbuds are either right or left depending how you wear your JayBird BlueBuds X . Besides the normal wear of having them in your ear with the cable coming down there is an option to wear them in the X-fit mode, which is a tight fit over the ear and behind your head. However this requires you to remove the ear cushion and reverse them and use a small weaving clip to create the best fit for you. If you are successful, it took me a little while, you will have the perfect workout companion. It is a little tricky though each time to reverse back and forth.

All the detailed specifications are available on the JayBird website.

The JayBird BlueBuds X are highly recommended if you are very active person and are available in Midnight Black or Storm White for $169.95

One of the biggest issues on Windows Phone 8 has been that many users haven’t been able to play certain wav audio files which are their home or office voice mails attached to an email. The issue is that that there are different type of wav files and somehow the codecs of older wav files didn’t make it in the chip sets on Windows Phone 8. I will give you two great solutions. One of them requires help from others and can be difficult, but the other solution is easy and you can set it up in a few minutes.

Self Fix for Unsupported Wav Files

There are some solutions, one of them requires your IT department or phone provider to change the wav format to a newer wav format. But of course this requires them to cooperate with you. Sometimes it works. It worked for me, but with my cable provider Comcast / Xfinity you won’t get that lucky. But now I have found a great free solution in PhoneConvert.

PhoneConvert let’s you easily forward an email with the unsupported wav file to your “username”@phoneconvert.com and/or “username”@iphoneconvert.com address and within 2-3 minutes or faster you will get an email back with a supported mp4 file of your voice mail which will work on your Windows Phone 8. This service is free and the service will allows you to manage these files online, but these files will be automatically deleted after 10 days. In your online account settings you can add multiple email addresses to have your converted email send back to. You can also add keywords to your return email subject in case you want to filter these incoming converted mails in your email account.

Go ahead and sign up for this great service at Phoneconvert.com and have the best and easiest solution to the problem of unsupported wav files on Windows Phone 8.

IT Fix for Unsupported Wav Files

If you want a more permanent solution you need to contact your IT department ot your service provider to make system change in their online voice mail service. Like I said before, I had it done and it works fine, but it might be a battle with your cable provider you can’t win.

Your IT department has to change the following settings in their PBX system:

Original recording format = PCM MU-LAW (G.711)

New recording format = Linear PCM

Once they have changed this format in their system, all your incoming voice mail by email on your Windows Phone 8 will be supported.

Windows 8 has a great on screen keyboard but definitely can slow you down. The company Cootek from TouchPal already has a swiping predictive keyboard for the iPhone and Android phones. But Today they launched the first Windows 8 Predictive Slide Keyboard. If you are a previous Swipe user, you kind of know already what this keyboard will do for you.

I have been using the beta version for awhile and just installed the final version and you are going to love it.

In their press release they explain it nicely:

TouchPal Keyboard runs on Windows 8 touchscreen tablets and any x86 based Windows 8 computer.

Typing on a Windows 8 touchscreen device can be challenging and TouchPal Keyboard solves this issue by making it easier for people to use their devices at home or in the workplace. As only cross-platform keyboard app and the default keyboard on devices by leading manufacturers including HTC and Sony, TouchPal Keyboard allows businesses that allow their employees to bring their own devices to work to benefit from higher productivity across the board.

“As Windows 8 machines continue to be adopted by businesses and consumers, we knew that they would need a custom keyboard to make typing easier and faster than ever,” said Michael Wong, CEO of CooTek. “Our Android and iOS versions have significantly improved the mobile experience for users, and we are excited to extend its benefits to Windows 8 device owners.”

Here is a short video demo:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X2rcVjtUaYE

For more information you can go to the Touchpal website and get this great keyboard on your Windows 8 Surface Pro or other Windows 8 Touch enabled devices.

I really do love my Surface Pro and RT. But it has one small limitation. The build in kick stand can only be opened in one fixed position. The Surface Pro kick stand angle is already slightly adjusted compared to the Surface RT but again it is one position only. However I just got an accessory added to My Surface set up that just gives me a great extra flexibility in my viewing angle in two different ways.

When I picked my Surface Pro last week a day after the release day (Blizzard Nemo 2103 conditions kept me at home) I also picked up the Microsoft Wedge Touch Bluetooth Mouse (Surface edition). This great small mouse works in almost any conditions and on almost all surfaces. Using this mouse while my Surface Pro was connected using the mini display port to my HD TV was an ease. I could comfortable sit or lay on my couch and the mouse would work on everything around me in every angle. But……when I was done steaming my video and I wanted to browse to a website that wasn’t in my favorites I needed to get up to my cable connected Surface Pro to type in this website. When I looked around for a spare Bluetooth keyboard I remembered that there was a Microsoft Wedge Bluetooth keyboard that would compliment the Wedge Mouse.

Looking around for this Microsoft Wedge Bluetooth keyboard I came to find out that the cover for this keyboard would not only automatically turn off the Bluetooth while covering the keyboard but also could be used as a tablet stand. Not only that but the cover is that strong you can use it in different angles. And the best thing it is a Windows 8 compatible keyboard with the same keyboard layout as the Surface type and touch cover. Those Charm keys are there for quick access.

I just got this keyboard in today and started playing with it and I have to say money well spend. The Touch and Type cover are great but the Microsoft Wedge Bluetooth Mouse and Keyboard gives me all the flexibility I need as I have with my desktop computer. Angle, distance, wireless mouse, detached wireless keyboard. Just perfect to use at home while your Surface is connected to the TV or on longer road trips where you want this added flexibility in your set up.

Below are some pictures how it looks like. You can get the Microsoft Wedge Bluetooth Keyboard for $79.95 in the Microsoft Store but I was able to get it for $48.94 on Amazon. The Microsoft Wedge Bluetooth Mouse (regular and Surface edition) are $69.95 in the Microsoft Store and $52.41 on Amazon. Of course I still use my Type cover as….well a cover and a type cover for smaller road trips.

According to the Inside SkyDrive official Blog a billion Office documents on SkyDrive can be collaborated with ease. With a special edit link all recipients (even with a non-Microsoft ) can edit the document. You can even edit this at the same time. Of course you can have more control and just invite specific people via their email and checking the “require user sign-in”.

These changes definitely will make it easier to share and collaborate specific documents. SkyDrive is increasingly adding functionality and is becoming a Hub within Microsoft where everything runs through.

If you are travelling to the United States or if you live in the United states you realize that Mobile data comes at huge cost. Many get charged international roaming data costs or if you live in the United Sates you get charged overages. In some cases you even have to pay your carrier to turn on the hotspot functionality on your phone just to be able to share your current data plan with other devices. Many have asked me over the years what is the best dataplan to get. Well there is a new player in town.

Until now Virgin Mobile was the first choice I would let people know to use. The monthly fee for data is for 30 days. After 30 days you will have to buy a new package. Any unused data would not roll over and you could consider it as a loss.

You can buy the following packages at Virgin Mobile:

$5/day for 200 MB/day for 3G (when connected to 4G it is unlimited)

$35/month for 2 GB/month for 3G (when connected to 4G it is unlimited)

$55/month for 5 GB/month for 3G (when connected to 4G it is unlimited)

Buying a hotspot for Virgin Mobile with or without 4G will cost you around $100 and you can buy these at major retailers like Walmart

Best Mobile Hotspot Data Package for on the go in the United States

But now we have a new kid on the block. Internet on the Go has broadband service available only at Walmart. First point to let you know, it is only 3G (on the Sprint network) which is good enough for almost everything.

Secondly, they have plans that have no monthly charges and no expiration of the data you buy. Now that is huge!!! If you want to go bigger you can double your data for the month for the same price but that will expire in 30 days.

Now let’s take a look how this will play out for you:

First let’s look at the plans where there are no monthly charges and no expiration of the data.

$10 for 500 MB

$25 for 1.5 GB

$45 for 4 GB

Now if you are in the need of a lot of data for the next 30 days, you double your data with the prices listed above and it even will beat Virgin Mobile pricing by far.

$10 for 1 GB/30 days

$25 for 3 GB/ 30 Days

$45 for 8 GB/ 30 days (now that is a deal)

The Mobile hotspot goes for around $80 as first initial investment at Walmart which is a Mifi 2200.

Really this is the best deal out there. Very easy manageable with recharge cards or purchase extra data online.

In the last couple of weeks I have been using the LG Optimus G on the AT&T network. Most of you know I have a Windows Phone as my main device since all the Android devices won’t give me a “Wow” factor anymore. Ok the Samsung Galaxy S III still has some wow to it. But the design, performance and added functionality in the LG Optimus G is making this a Flagship device for me on the Android platform.

The technical specifications are on upper side compared to other android devices, but the user experience is what really sets this device apart from its competitors. I will explain a little bit more about what I mean by that. You can find the technical details here on the LG site. As truth to be told the LG Optimus G would currently really be my Android device of choice. The user experience, as mentioned earlier, is what really makes this device a pleasure to use. When you unlocking the animated default lock screen on an amazing True HD IPS Plus Display it will give you a taste of what is to come in graphic capabilities that this device has. Once you are on the start screen you can swipe to either side, like with any android device, to get to another screen, however the Rolodex animation to change screens is again a testament that LG wants to give you a great experience. The sleek design gives it a very comfortable feel in my hands. The looks and feel reminds me of the Bang & Olufsen design and quality.

Another awesome feature is the indication light surrounding your power button which will be red when your phone is charging and green when it is done charging. However this light only goes on while your screen is turned off.

The best feature of the LG Optimus G is the quick memo function that is accessible directly from the quick notification access drop down that all android devices have. This quick memo allows you to instantly take notes on top or on the side of your current screen shot and save it. It also allows you to toggle back to the screen it self and the note just in case you forgot something and need to scroll to look for that extra information. Quick memo will allow you to share directly to all apps installed on your LG Optimus that will allow sharing. Really this is one of the best integrated note taking apps I have ever seen.

Below are some screenshots taken with another mobile phone.

Like I said before. If you are an android fan and you really want a newer experience you should get the LG Optimus G. Currently the LG Optimus G is available for $99.99 with a 2 year contract at AT&T.

As reported by many sites the Windows Phone update for the Nokia Lumia 920 , 820 and Windows Phone 8X by HTC will be released today. However there is no guarantee this is for everyone The word is that T-Mobile and AT&T are letting Microsoft pull the trigger for their users. Let me explain how this process will work for you.

There are going to be two different ways you can get the update once the trigger has been pulled at Microsoft in combination with their partners. We know from other sites that T-Mobile USA and AT&T are the ones that are lined up. In regards to other providers and regions there is no official words.

The two possibilities to get the update are.

1. You will get notified with a message on your phone that an update is available. However at that moment the update is already downloaded on your phone and is ready for installation. This message will only pop up if you were using the phone enough in WiFi connected situation (update only downloads over WiFi), since that the update will fix the Wifi connectivity issue while the phone is in standby mode. Make sure that you have the check boxes checked in the Phone Update menu under settings.

2. You can force the Update by physically go to “Check for Updates” In the Phone Update menu under settings. make sure to be connected over WiFi to be able to download the update.

Once the update is released I wouldn’t be surprised that most of the update details are outlined on the official Windows Phone Blog.

Update: The update history for Windows Phone 8 has been posted to

I have heard and read many times about the Sonos speaker system. But I wasn’t really familiar with it. After contacting the pr agency for Sonos and seeing them at a Pepcom event in NY City I was given the opportunity to test the Sonos Bridge and the Play:3. And after some small start up issues I am now pretty “Wowed” by Sonos. Why? Let me tell you.

If you don’t Sonos yet you might want to know a little bit more about their system. The system is a Wireless HiFi system using your internet and network sources of music and radio. For example the music on your hardrives, and in the cloud like Amazon Cloud. In regards to radio or other streaming music sources you have access to SiriusXM, Last.fm, Rdio, Spoitfy, Slacker, TuneIn and much more.

When you set up you need to install a Sonos controller first. I, being on Windows 8, encountered my first problem. The Sonos controller software installed with no issue but I wasn’t able to connect the Sonos bridge or Play:3. The Sonos controller was able to recognize them on the network but the controller on my desktop failed. Not knowing what to do I dusted off my iPad Mini and installed the Sonos app from the app store. Voila, instantly I was connected and was able to make sound come out the Play:3. And what an amazing sound it was. The Bridge has a pass-through network adapter which allows you to connect directly to your router without using an extra port on your router. Just put in between any of your devices already connected to your router. The Bridge will control the Sonos speakers that are wireless connected (Called SonosNet) and controls all your account settings for your services. I shared my music folder on my Windows 8 computer and added this folder to the Sonos Bridge using the iPad Mini app. So no controller on my Windows 8 computer, but I have access to all my music located on my Windows 8 computer.

You can add easily other Sonos speakers to this bridge and manage which speakers are turned on and with which sound settings they are being used.

After downloading the Phonos app for Windows Phone 8 on mine and my wifes Nokia Lumia 920, we now both have access to control our Sonos Hifi system with ease. My wife, not being a fan of MP3 music in general, was blown away with the sound quality coming out of the Sonos Play:3. The current controllers allows you to manage your subscriptions, account details, favorites and playlists of all your sources.

I have to say that I was skeptical in reviewing the Sonos system. But even after just having it one day, the flexibility of playing anything you want locally or worldwide in any room of your house has sold me this system. It’s a little pricey, but the quality and flexibility makes definitely up for that. If you still want a system for the holidays you can. Hurry up today for free overnight shipping and a free bridge ($49) with a gift pack when you purchase the Play:3 or Play:5. This review sample is really one of these products I really don’t like sending back at all to the pr agency.

The only negative thing right now… Sonos need a working desktop client for Windows 8 and an official app for Windows 8, RT and Windows Phone. The Sonos controllers are available for free for Windows xp,7, Android, iPhone, iPad.

Check out the Sonos website if you want to know more about the Sonos HiFi system

Last time he made a comparison video of the Nokia Lumia 920 and the HTC Titan II. But now he has made a comparison video of the Nokia Lumia 920 and the Apple iPhone 5.

The video below was taken like last time on a moving train. However this time it was raining outside. But you can clearly see that the iPhone 5 video quality is losing all the colors you actually want to see. The Nokia Lumia 920 has gotten great reviews and is in high demand. Not a bad thing of course. This video is another testament that the Nokia Lumia 920 has some great amazing qualities. The Nokia Lumia 920 earned the current title of Windows Phone Flagship with other qualities like the Pureview camera, wireless charging, specific Nokia apps, Sensitive touch screen to be used with gloves and other great features.

Check out the video below and make sure to share this with your friends.
