When you hold the HTC Vivid in your hand the first impression will be…wow this is a nice heavy and solid unit. But if you ever had the light weighted Samsung Galaxy S or S II series as your device you might think a little differently.

The HTC Vivid is a very powerful device and some great specifications. The Dual Core processor gives you a great user experience on the screen. Smooth transitions on improved LCD screen compared to previous HTC models. However in a couple of the last updates on Facebook, Facebook has been automatically creating some lists for you as well. My main complaint on the Mobile Facebook apps was that you couldn’t filter your news feed to these list on the Mobile device applications. It is possible but it is not that obvious and requires a little trick. In this article I explain you how you can do this on your Windows Phone, Apple iPhone, iPad and on all Android devices.

Facebook app for Apple iPad, iPhone and all Android devices.

Open the Facebook app on your device

Make sure you select the “News Feed” option first if it not already opened up.

On the right top tap on the button that says “All Stories”

In the scroll down you can see your automatically and self created list and select the one you want. IF you don’t see them don’t worry because this is why I wrote this article and go to the next step.

I guess you didn’t see your lists. I have described this in an earlier article. This will filter the facebook, linkedin and twitter posts from these people in this group.

The Windows Phone Facebook app takes a couple steps to see the specific news feed of on of your lists.

Open the Facebook app on your Windows Phone

Tap on “Friends” in the selections

Tap on “Lists” on the top of your screen

Select the List of your choice in the selections.

Select “News Feed” on the Top of your screen.

Now you are able to just read the news feed of the people on that list.

How to Set Up your Google Gmail account as a Corporate Exchange Account on your Mobile Device

Apple iPhone

Google Android

Other Phones

Phones

Windows Phone

Windows Phone 7

corporate

Exchange

Gmail

Google

Sync

Many people have either a Gmail account or a Google Mail account for their own domain. However, the quick Gmail set-up on some phones only brings in your emails from your Gmail or Google mail account and not your contacts and calendar items. This article will show you that it is possible to sync your Gmail- Google mail, contacts and calendar items onto your device using the Corporate Exchange protocol. The advantage of using this protocol on an Android device is that you are able to change the sync settings to a specific time frame instead of the only Push setting in the standard “add Google account” on the Android devices. This can save you a lot of battery power.

Remove existing Gmail- Google mail account.

First of all we have to be sure that you start removing your earlier quick Google / Gmail account that you have set up on your Device. Go to your account settings on your device and remove all excisting Google Gmail account that were set up using the quick “add Google/Gmail” account.

Adding your Gmail – Google mail account using the Corporate Exchange settings.

The following steps will guide you in setting up your Gmail – Google mail account as an exchange account on your mobile device.

(Ps. If you have a account for your own domain you first need to activate the active sync functionality in your Google Domain Dashboard. “Manage this Domain -> Mobile-> Check box “Enable Google Sync“->Save settings

On most devices you can add a new account in the settings section.

Tap on “Add Account” which is listed under your already set up email accounts.

Select “Corporate Account, Outlook or Microsoft Exchange” depending on your device.

Type in your email in the first field. Name@gmail.com or Name@yourowndomain.com

Type your password in the password field

Type in the Server field the server address “m.google.com“

Check the boxes for SSL and accept all SSL certificates.

Now the “Next” button on the top right of your screen will be active.

On most next screens you can select which data you want synced (Email, Calendar, Contacts) and the frequency. Select Push for instant download of all new items. But if you have many accounts on your device I would recommend changing it to a less frequent time to safe on your battery power

Now you should be all set. The form factor is similar to the HTC Evo 4G from Sprint and the HTC Inspire 4G from AT&T. But the specifications of the HTC ThunderBolt beats the others.

The HTC ThunderBolt from Verizon will give you the LTE speeds if you are in and LTE covered area, if not you will be falling back on the huge 3G network from Verizon. I am one of those that is stuck between Boston and New York and my experiences are on the 3G Network instead. However next week I will be travelling to NY City and will get back with my experiences over the LTE network.

Even on the 3G network I experience fast speeds with data downloads and I am able to use the build-in Mobile Hotspot for my wifi only iPad with very good data download speeds. The 8MP camera is amazing and the camera menu allows me easy to make pictures with special effects and auto focus. Switching to the 2MP front camera can be done within the menu as well. The 2x LED flash and the 720p HD video recording makes this camera app very complete and powerful.

Built-in DLNA allows you to beam your media wirelessly to your flatscreen.

The device has an instant-boot feature, but I have seen reports that that can give some issues with other functionalities of the phone.

I downloaded skype and try to make a call, however the HTC ThunderBolt is on the 3G or LTE network Skype only allows me to make a call over the Wifi network and I wasn’t able to use the front camera, why?? Looks like the front camera will only work with Google talk if you use it, otherwise it will be a nice camera to use to take a photo booth picture. Yesterday I have been playing around with the phone for a while and noticed that the battery runs down very quickly. I have been looking in the settings if there is a possibility to turn off the LTE searching connection which might be the issue of the extreme fast battery drain. But I have no luck finding these settings. I guess I could pull out the Sim for that. Not my preferred choice though.

Technical Specifications

Networks – LTE 700, CDMA EvDO revA

Android 2.2 + HTC Sense

4.3″ WVGA TFT capacitive touch screen

8MP auto focus, 2x led flash camera

1.3 MP front facing camera

8 GB Internal memory with 768 Ram memory and preinstalled 32 GB micro SD

Wifi 802.11 b/g/n

Bluetooth 2.1

GPS

1400 mAh battery

Dual Mics with noise canceling

Surround sound

Compass

G-Sensor

Proximity sensor

Light sensor

FM Radio

kick stand

1GHz Qualcomm processor

Unboxing Video

The video below will show you the unboxing experience of the Verizon HTC Thunderbolt.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pPH3txRkIB8

HTC has delivered again to Verizon as they did with Sprint and AT&T the most powerful smartphone on these networks. Those mobile devices don’t give me a “Wow” factor anymore, but these tablets really do. However the lack of optimized applications for the tablets is reducing really the usability compared to the applications that are currently available for the Apple iPad 1 and 2.

Video Review

Take a better look on the Motorola Xoom in the video below which I made. There was a promotion for an extra 1000 roll over minutes, some iPhone customers were allowed to switch back to the unlimited data plan again. What differs this Samsung Galaxy S phone from the others is the secondary Super AMOLED “Ticker” screen that is located on the bottom of the device under the standard Google Android keys.

The Samsung Galaxy S phones are very popular worldwide due to the very clear, vibrant and bright Super AMOLED screen. In the US we have thesewith all four carriers in different designs. (The New Samsung Focus Windows Phone 7 uses this display as well)

All these four have some minor differences but the new Samsung Continuum makes itself way different from the other Galaxy S and Google Android phones due to a secondary AMOLED screen that will display your incoming notification on RSS feeds, Twitter, Facebook, etc. In the video below I will show you all these options and settings of the Ticker Display.

Key Features of the Samsung Continuum Galaxy S

3.4-inch Super AMOLED Main Touch Screen Display – Main display provides user-customizable homescreens and widgets in a brilliant screen display

1.8-inch Interactive Super AMOLED Ticker Display – Dedicated ticker display enables zero-click access to news, social networking, sports and entertainment feeds; The first on-board navigation app of a major navigation company to launch on the Android platform, MobileNavigator brings premium navigation to the growing Android user base. Among many signature functions, the app includes the industry-first feature Reality Scanner that identifies points of interest by showing them in a live camera view. MobileNavigator is available now from the Android Market and includes Traffic Live and without an additional cost.

MobileNavigator brings first-class developments in GPS navigation technology and real-time travel information to the Android platform. “For almost two decades NAVIGON brings preeminent navigation technology; this long standing experience enables us to deliver sophisticated navigation solutions that transform smartphones into navigation solutions comparable to standalone devices,” said Gerhard Mayr, NAVIGON vice-president worldwide mobile phones and new markets. “Other than free navigation apps for the Android platform, NAVIGON’s app provides on-board premium maps and driving related features that go beyond providing simple directions, helping to make driving a more relaxed experience.”

Reality Scanner is an industry first feature for the Android platform. Utilizing the phone’s build-in camera, positioning, and compass components together with NAVIGON’S extensive POI database to project POI (points of interest) icons directly on the camera’s image. Users can point the device and instantly identify POIs in or around the location. Other premium features include, Reality View Pro, displaying photo-realistic 3D views of actual road, highway/interstate, signs and exits, and lane guide markers for easy driving decisions. Traffic Live uses real-time data from over a million drivers to route around traffic. NAVIGON MyRoutes analyzes driving habits, patterns, location, time/day and provides up to three routes clearly displayed in-map with ETA, distance and driving times for each (a comprehensive list of features is below). The NAVIGON Red Light Cameras feature provides drivers an advanced visual warning for most red light and speed cameras.

MobileNavigator relies on the devices’ GPS receiver as well as the pre-loaded NAVTEQ® maps, providing full function navigation capabilities when a cell signal is not available. Off-board navigation, in comparison, is dependent on a cell phone connection to download map and routing data. Therefore, no cell signal renders navigation useless or interrupted until a connection is re-established. “MobileNavigator addresses the concerns of savvy consumers who are dissatisfied with the inconsistent performance of off-board turn-by-turn navigation solutions using lower quality data that has recently entered the market. NAVTEQ maps are a key differentiator and part of NAVIGON’S overall strategic vision for enabling a more sophisticated navigation experience for consumers,” said Jeff Mize, executive vice president, Global Sales, NAVTEQ. “The superiority of NAVTEQ® maps is defined by its verified accuracy, richness of content and its breadth of coverage data. Equipped with proprietary data collection tools and state-of-the-art technologies, NAVTEQ’S Geographic Analysts continually drive the roads to collect, verify and update over 260 attributes, many of which can only be captured through direct field collection. This in-depth “human factor” delivers data consistent with real world conditions and is one of the most robust and accurate geographic databases in the world.”

In addition to the benefits of an on-board solution, NAVIGON’S hallmark navigation capabilities and third party partnerships come together in MobileNavigator customized and developed for the Android platform.

The extensive set of features and capabilities include:
· Reality View™ Pro clearly displays photo-realistic 3D views of actual road, highway/interstate, signs and exits, and lane guide markers for easy driving decisions.

· Traffic Live The most precise traffic information available today, using real-time speed data from over a million drivers including commercial fleets such as trucks and taxis and non-commercial drivers with GPS capabilities.

· Reality Scanner helps finding points of interest by showing them in a live camera view.

· Lane Assistant Pro prepares drivers to make an upcoming exit or turn with a lane map complete with arrows and actual road geometry.

· Speed Assistant Adjustable audio-visual warning alerts drivers of speed and can be turned on or off.

· Text-to-Speech Complementing turn-by-turn directions; informs the driver of both the street name and the direction to turn.

· NAVIGON MyRoutes analyzes driving habits, patterns, location, time/day and provides up to three routes clearly displayed in-map with ETA, distance and driving times for each.

· Day & Night Mode for map display.

· Direct Access to Contacts Allows navigation to contacts saved in the phone’s address book.

· Route Planning

· Branded POIs and POIs along the route and in Reality Scanner.

· 2D and 3D map view

· Coordinate Input Employ longitude and latitude coordinates as a destination as an alternative to traditional input like an address or POI by name. Together with the launch of the HTC Desire HD and HTC Desire Z, the Gratia completes the Android 2.2 line of devices of HTC and now there’s a HTC device for every budget.Combining style and functionality, the sleek and compact HTC Gratia features a seamless wrap-around soft-cover that eliminates hard edges and a five megapixel color camera with auto focus. The G2 will mostly likely be named the HTC Desire Z in Europe. We will have a closer look at this new Google Android device in this article.

The T-Mobile G2 is a power house with its specifications and functions but is not using the renewed Sense interface which we mentioned earlier. A new browser screen opens, in which you can select the text-file you want to open. By default the browser screen is mapped to the my documents folder; in other words by default it will open the my documents folder to open the text files from there.

Shortcuts

While the userinterface is relative simple and robust I can’t really wrap my mind around the logic of the shortcuts menu. I think the intention or goal is to browse to a specific folder and add this folder to a list with shortcuts, that allows you to easily open and save text-files to a preferred storage location.

It might be a bug, but I can’t add another folder than the “My Documents” folder on the HTC HD2.

Save file

The third menu item from the navigation bar is the save file option. This feature works exactly the same as the open file feature. You tap on the save file button, when a browser window is opened and you can save the text file to the location where you want.

Edit Menu

The fourth menu item from the navigation bar is called “edit menu”. As you can see in the screenshot above it as a pop-up menu which helps you to perform some basic manipulations with the text (copy, cut, paste) or change the appearance (zoom & wrap) on the screen.

Main Menu

The fourth menu item from the navigation bar is called “main menu”, which opens a pop-up menu similar like the Edit Menu. In the right screenshot above you can see the list of menu items: (1) Find bar, (2) Edit bar, (3) Stat bar, (4) Label, (5) Font, (6) Settings and (7) Exit All.

In the left screenshot above I have enabled a few bars. The dark blue bar on the top of the screen with the text untiteld.txt is the label (4). The light blue bar with buttons just below the label is the Edit bar (2), while the light blue bar at the bottom is the Stat bar (3). The pop-up menu in the middle of the left screenshot allows you to configure the font (5).

The settings (6) are shown in the right screenshot above. Remark the setting to choose the language combination of the dictionary search. In the left screenshot below you can see the Find bar (1) enabled at the bottom of the screen, via which you can find and if neccesary replace words.

Close Current / Exit

In the right screenshot above you see the last button in the navigation bar of NotepadWS. You can either close the current tab, or you can completly exit the application from there.

Google Search, Wikipedia Search and Dictionary Search

The unique features that distinguish a simple plain text editor from NotepadWS are the build in search options for Google, Wikipedia or an online dictionary.

In the screenshot above you can see that I selected the text “Resco Keyboard Pro” and tap-and-hold to open the pop-up menu. From this menu I select the option Google Search, and on the right you can see the results of the Google Search for Resco Keyboard Pro within the NotepadWS application.

In the screenshots above you can see the Wikipedia search for the selected term HTC HD2. Again you select the text, tap-and-hold and select Wiki search from the pop-up menu. Let me emphasize again, the search query isn’t opened in a new browser window, but presented in the application.

Overall conclusions and wrap-up

NotepadWS is one of the few text editors for Windows Phone, so it is great to have one. Some functions might not be as rich as Microsoft Word Mobile 2010, however I think that NotepadWS is a cool product that includes most common functionality for writing text or taking notes.

I combination with a service like Microsoft Live Mesh or DropBox you will get a convenient way to take notes and use these across different devices. Using NotepadWs in this way results in a competitive offering like Evernote, mentioned in the introduction of this article.

Finally the advanced search features are really cool, and honestly I would expect these to be build into a plain text editor. However it is certainly helpful, and opens up much more usage scenario’s like search client or dictionary !

Team HTC-Columbia Velostream – Google, Highroad, HTC & SRM power realtime riderinfo during Tour de France 2010

Google Android

Cycling

Google

Highroad

HTC Columbia

SRM power

Le Tour de France 2010, the largest yearly recurring sportsevent in the world, is unfolding in all its glory. You can not only watch the live coverage of the stage, but you also get a graphical overview of the stage, the differences in time, the position of the yersey’s and finally you can switch to the audio of Radio 1. It is not just a livestream but a more complete aggregation of real-time Tour de France information.

The majority of professional cyclists ride furthermore with the SRM Training System – PowerMeter + PowerControl, which is a kind of super cycling computer that is the best system to measure the power output of a rider. Seldom any if this (biometric) data is publicaly shared.

The first time I have seen such an attempt was after the Tour of Flanders victory of Fabian Cancellara, when Nicolas Sims, Global Marketing Manager of Specialized shared this information in a video on Youtube.

Team HTC-Columbia and Google teamed up and bring this concept of realtime and rider specific data to the next level, as you can follow the riders’ performance during Le Tour de France 2010 in the so called Velostream:

“Experience the Tour De France like never before. Track all nine riders from Team HTC – Columbia and see their exact locations and real-time telemetry data.”

Keyrole for the HTC Legend

Bob Stapelton, the team owner of cycling team HTC-Columbia, explains during the Tour de Frans 2010 Press Conference that the team will be suited with a modified version of the Google Android powered HTC Legend.

The modified HTC Legend is able to read the SRM sensors output and wirelessly transmits it to an online server. The modification will, in my personal view, foremost consists of the ANT+ implementation:

“ANT+ facilitates the collection, automatic transfer and tracking of sensor data for monitoring information anywhere, anytime. The key advantage of this unique managed network is device specific interoperability which enables wireless communication with other ANT+ products. This interoperability function (added to the base ANT protocol) now facilitates the reliable transfer of data between sensors and display devices such as watches, heart rate monitors and bike computers. ”

Google MyTracks enhances telemetry data

Google enhances this real-time telemetry data with some well known Google applications like: Google maps, Google earth, Google MyTracks.

“My Tracks is an application for your Android phone that enables you to record GPS tracks and view live statistics – such as time, speed, distance, and elevation – while hiking, biking, running or participating in other outdoor activities. Once recorded, you can share your tracks, upload them to Google Spreadsheets and visualize them on Google My Maps.”

Google MyTracks takes care of the location part, that is combined with the telemetry data. According to Bob Stapelton will Google Streetview be supported so you can really see where the team HTC-Columbia riders are passing by.

Overall conclusion and wrap-up

What is the heart-rate of Michael Rogers in the mountains and what is the power-input of Mark Cavendish in the final sprint on Avenue des Champs-Élysées?!

It is really cool to see how mobile technology and the world of internet enhance professional cycling. For example the use of Skype has helped team HTC-Columbia to communicate more effectively at lower costs, the Scott F01 project helps the riders to transform the maximum power at the best aerodynamics into forward speed, and the SRM telemetry data of the riders helps the follow the riders’ shape and training input.

Given the fact that Le Tour the France is the biggest annual recurring sports event, I really like that team HTC-Columbia is willing to openly share its riders data. The result is that you can follow Le Tour de France in a more personal and interactive way. As a hobby cyclist I do have a feeling about the speeds and heart-rates, so it is higly interesting to follow the riders realtime during the stages.

It is a new way entertainment with a key-role for the HTC Legend powered by the Google Android mobile operating system. During the race you can track the riders on a special Google website, as well as on the Velostream page of the team HTC-Columbia website ! I really hope that other teams will follow, and that this initiative will be extended to other races as well.

T-Mobile Samsung Vibrant a Samsung Galaxy S Phone Review – Unboxing

Google Android

Phones

Android

Galaxy S

Google

Samsung

t-mobile

vibrant

We just received another Samsung Galaxy S Phone. For example when you drop down the notification bar you will have not the quick links WiFi, Bluetooth Silent and Vibration Profile like the Captivate but you will have Wifi, Bluetooth, GPS and your Silent Profile.

I already mentioned before that the design is more rounder compared to it’s AT&T brother. The rounded design with the chrome trim actually makes it look like the Apple iPhone 3GS, just taller and wider.

Since that the Samsung Vibrant comes with a 2GB Sd card the unboxing included a Micro SD Adapter to regular SD format.

Make sure to check out our earlier review of the Samsung Captivate. Here we go deeper into the specifications, functionality and User Interface on these Samsung Galaxy S Phones. This includes a video as well.

The Samsung Epic 4G from Sprint and the Samsung Fascinate from Verizon are the two other Samsung Galaxy S phones which are going to be released soon. The CDMA devices (Verizon and Sprint) have a slide out landscape keyboard for example.

Out of the Box

My first impression out of the box was the sleek design and the total black screen while the device is turned off or in sleep mode. With other phone you still can see the different black color of the device and the screen, but with the Samsung Captivate it is a nice real black color. However while you are working on your device the 4 home buttons light up for a while but the back light will disappear until you touch one of these buttons again. Being so black you have to look really good which button you want to touch. Compared to the other phones below this device is much lighter.

When turning on the device you can see that the Super AMOLED 4 inch touchscreen is very vibrant in colors. Definitely Eye Candy.

Included in the box are:

Quick Start Guide

Headset

USB to Micro USB charging Cable

USB to power outlet plug

extra warning information

On the front of the device you have the following buttons which are the standard with all the Google Android Phones. The Samsung Captivate runs on the Google Android Platform 2.1.

These buttons are the from left to right: – Menu – Home -Back – Search

The following buttons and functions are located on the rest of the phone.

On the Top part of the Samsung Captivate you have the 3.5 mm headphone port and the Micro USB connector port that is covered with a sliding cover. Really cool.

On the right side of the device while looking at it you have only power button which allows you to turn on and off your phone with a long press of the button, while turning off with the long press you actually get two other options besides power off: Silent Mode and Flight Mode. The Short press of the power button turn on or off your screen to conserve battery power.

On the left side of the device while facing the front you will have your volume control. You can press up or down to control your volume output.

The bottom of the device you will see a pinhole which is your microphone.

And on the back side of your phone you have your battery cover and 5 Megapixel camera lens.

Under battery cover is the space for of course your 1500 mAh Battery, sim card and your micro sd card to expand your memory. The colors are so vibrant. The added Samsung Widgets are really useful. Samsung always had great camera’s on their devices and this one is no exception.

The slide to unlock feature on the lock screen is very handy for everyone You can slide the screen in almost any direction to unlock your phone. Another great feature is the slide motion on a contact to quickly text or call that contact.

The Notification Bar has standard build in the most important connectivity quick buttons like WiFi, Bluetooth Silent and Vibration Profile. (see video)

The standard keyboard has a great accuracy and touch feedback. You can switch keyboards and get the great Swype keyboard as well.

The phone has seven home screens and are very customizable. The middle home screen has four fixed icons on the bottom: -Phone- Corporate E-mail – Browser -Applications. I still have to see if you can change fixed icons around.

Technical Specifications

Frequency: Quad-Band: EDGE 850/900/1800/1900MHZ Tri-Band: UMTS 850/1900/2100 MHz

Dimensions : 4.18″ x 2.5″ x 0.39″

Weight: about 4.5 Ounces

Display: 4 inches WVGA 480 x 800 pixels Super AMOLED

Charging Time: Up to 5 Hours

Battery: 1500 maH

Talk Time: up to 5 hours 50 minutes

Standby Time: up to 300 hours

Internal Memory: 16GB ROM/ 512 MB Ram

Expandable Memory: 32 GB

Processor speed: 1 GHz

WiFi B/G/N

Bluetooth 3.0

5 megapixel camra

Super AMOLED Touchscreen with 4 inch display

HD Video

Social Media Networking integration

Android 2.1

Conclusion

Samsung did a great job with the Galaxy S device. The Super AMOLED 4 inch screen is eye candy. The User Interface is attractive and the added functionalities of the Samsung widgets makes it even more so attractive. The device is bigger compared to the Apple iPhone 4 but is lighter in your pockets. My only negative point as I pointed out in the video is the that the reaction of switching screen is slow using the buttons on the front of the device. The touch feedback is fast, but a delay in visual.

We haven’t seen any official pricing or release date yet on the Samsung Captivate but you can sign up to receive updates from AT&T here. But it looks like the phone will cost $199.99 with a 2 year contract and a minimum $15 data plan.

Update: We now also have an unboxing review of the Samsung Vibrant from T-Mobile another Samsung Galaxy S Phone

Is this Galaxy S phone not available with your provider then check out all the Samsung Galaxy S Phones on the special Samsung Galaxy S site. However, the quick Gmail set-up on the KIN ONE and the KIN TWO only brings in your emails from your Gmail or Google mail account and not your contacts. This article will show you that it is possible to sync your Gmail- Google mail contacts onto your KIN and link them to your existing contact information from your Facebook,Windows Live and other social media accounts on the KIN.

The contact information on the KIN ONE and KIN TWO currently only comes from your Facebook account, your Windows Live account, manual input or if you have an Exchange account. The last Exchange option is what we are going to use to set up your KIN to sync your Gmail – Google contacts and e-mail. We have written about this before in an earlier article.

Remove existing Gmail- Google mail account.

First of all we have to be sure that you start removing your earlier quick Gmail account that you have set up on your KIN. Follow these steps to remove this account. If you don’t have an account set up yet on your KIN you can skip this section and go to the following section how to set up your account using the Exchange settings.

Slide from the home screen on your KIN to right to have your most left home screen appear

Tap on “Email“

On the right top of the screen tap on “more“

Tap on “Settings“

Tap on “Your Gmail” account that you want to set up later to sync you Contacts and Email.

Now you will see your Name of the account and your Login credentials. Tap on the right top of the screen “Delete“. and select “Delete” again when the “Delete account?” pop up appears.

Now we are finished deleting of your Gmail – Google Mail account and ready to set this up as your exchange account which gives you back your E-mails and your Contacts.

Adding your Gmail – Google mail account using the Exchange settings.

The following steps will guide you in setting up your Gmail – Google mail account as an exchange account on your KIN.

(Ps. If you have a account for your own domain you first need to activate the active sync functionality in your Google Domain Dashboard. “Manage this Domain -> Mobile-> Check box “Enable Google Sync“->Save settings)

Slide from the home screen on your KIN to right to have your most left home screen appear

Tap on “Email“

On the right top of the screen tap on “more“

Tap on “Settings“

Tap on “Add Account” which is listed under your already set up email accounts.

Select “Microsoft Exchange“

Type in your email in the first field. Name@gmail.com or Name@yourowndomain.com

Type in the second field the server address “m.google.com“

Type in the third field your login which is again your full email address like Name@gmail.com or Name@yourowndomain.com

In the fourth field your password

And in the Domain field you have to put in “google“

Now the “Next” button on the top right of your screen will be active. Tap “Next“

Since this is Exchange set up you will be asked to create a Pin for your account. This pin is for unlocking the lock screen of your phone.

Now you should be all set. your data connection will sync all your contacts and emails for this account.

The KIN only allows one Exchange account set up on your device. Make sure you set this up for your main account.

Linking contact information on your KIN.

Now that you have different sources of contact information on your KIN you can link them as follows.

Slide the screen either to the right or the left on your KIN and select “Contacts” or “All Contacts“

Find a contact by either typing his/her name or scroll down with your finger on the screen until you find the contact that you know will have a information from different sources on your phone like Facebook, My Space, Twitter, Exchange or manual input.

Tap the “contacts name“

Tap “More” on the right top of your KIN.

Tap “Link Contact“

The KIN will automatically find similar contact names and populates them on the bottom of the screen.

Tap the box with your theme text “Link” that is listed next to the populated list.

That information will be moved to the top part of your screen and will from now on appear together in this person contact information. You will see you can “Unlink” this information the same way.

If in the automatic populated list the information doesn’t appear you can manually find this through tapping “Link Another“

Below is a short video where I show you the Linking of a contact.
